Exo-Evolution, 30 October 2015 to 6 March 2016 at  ZKM | Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie Karlsruhe DE

“The exhibition ‘ExoEvolution and Retooling’ at ZKM will take place in the framework of the GLOBALE, a poly-phone event extending over 300 days to commemorate the 300 year anniversary of the city of Karlsruhe. GLOBALE is to highlight the cultural effects of globalization, the reciprocal influences and questions of various cultures and the way that globalization has transformed the world. Moreover, the function and context of art, along with the manner in which art is presented has also changed. For a long time art, philosophy and religion were considered the dominant, but also rivaling systems for explaining the world. Since modernity, however, the natural sciences, technology, and politics have also been included as systems of reference. They not only interpret the world, but also develop the cultural tools with which to change it.”

Address: Lorenzstr. 19, D-76135 Karlsruhe

Visit at SymbioticA, Perth – Australia

From 23 September until 6 October

I was invited to visit the SymbioticA and present at the Neolife SLSA Conference 2015 the Evolution of Hybrid Entities. The visit at SymbioticA is supported by Stroom Den Haag.

Neolife SLSA Conference 2015 – From the odd to the mundane, new forms of life are emerging in labs, workshops and studios. With the promise of exploitation for health and wealth we are seeing life as it previously never existed, albeit smothered in hyperbole, rhetoric and speculation. How do cultures such as Indigenous Australia respond to Neolife? On what terms are countries like China, India, Singapore and Japan, who have a rapidly growing biotech industry embracing or rejecting Neolife? How different is it to the west? Neolife: The Rest of the World SLSA 2015 meeting in Perth, Western Australia will attempt to address these questions from a wide range of approaches.
